We’re pleased to share that the build of the first ship in China, under construction for our joint venture with China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), is progressing well with around a third of the hull now completed. Outfitting is mainly in the machinery spaces but will soon be progressing to the accommodation areas of the ship.

We’re aware that a number of you are interested to know what opportunities are available and as such, please see the list of initial vacancies that we will be recruiting for in the near future:

This is an exciting adventure, to work in Shanghai and follow the construction of two new ships working with a new shipyard, it will be a new, demanding yet rewarding experience. The shipyard is keen to learn from us the best way to build cruise ships and as a result we need your expertise and guidance to help them.

Registering your interest
If you would like to register your interest in any of the above roles, or more generally in a move to China, please do so by sending an email to Lucy Davis (lucy.davis@carnivalshipbuilding.com) as soon as possible so we can consider your interest. In doing this, you are simply indicating your interest, there is no formal commitment at this stage.

Remuneration
Whilst we’re still finalising the full package details for each role, we can share that successful applicants will be supported with the costs of relocating as well as practical support and guidance around living and working in China.

Length of contract
The first ship is scheduled for delivery in autumn 2023, with the second planned for 2025. The exact length of contract will vary by role but we would consider that as a minimum a successful applicant would be prepared to move for at least six months with longer contracts available for those wanting to remain in China until the delivery of the second ship.

Timing
Please do appreciate that with the added complexity of a global pandemic, at this stage we can’t be sure of exact timings, but our initial research suggests that the visa application process is a minimum of three months, depending on which country you are coming from.

Thank you for your interest and if you have any questions please speak to either Martin Vos or a member of the Services team.
