Yesterday Arnold Donald and Peter Anderson introduced our new Corporate wide Culture Essentials including detail on the process so far and the next steps following feedback during the Our World, Your Voice survey in early 2019.

Whilst there was a lot of positive feedback that demonstrated the passion that our colleagues have for our brands, it was clear that we don’t always meet the high standards we set for ourselves when it comes to how things get done. That feedback is:

  • when we speak up, we need to be more confident that we’ll be heard, without fear of retaliation, and that the company will take steps to follow up
  • we all need to more readily accept that sometimes mistakes are made and being honest about them gives us all a chance to learn and improve
  • we need to do more to benefit from the diversity in our business … to respect different perspectives
  • we need to ensure we’re always as focussed on our people as we are on our work
  • we need to be clearer about the purpose of the processes we create, so everyone understands the reasons
  • we need to think through sustainable solutions to our environmental challenges and
  • we need to ensure that our commercial interests never compromise safety and wellbeing of our people.

These cultural challenges are shared across all brands in the Carnival Corporation so it makes sense that we work together to tackle them.

Our Culture Essentials are clear behaviours – for both our shoreside and fleet colleagues, that every brand in our Carnival family will champion so we can build an even stronger culture, together. Our Culture Essentials are the link between the Carnival Corporation Vision Statement and the core values within each of our brands.

So what does this mean for us?

Please watch Simon Palethorpe’s update below where he talks in more detail about how we’ll make the Culture Essentials part of our every day at Carnival UK:

Our culture is a reflection of who we are, what we stand for today and what we aspire to be tomorrow. We are united in a common goal of excellence and a shared commitment to protect and serve our Guests, our colleagues, the oceans we sail and the communities we visit – we are always stronger together.

There will be more information to follow over the coming weeks and months. In the meantime, you can see all of this information here, under the ‘Carnival UK’ menu drop down on The Insider homepage.
