Sheena Matthams, Ship Security Officer on Britannia, has challenged herself while on board to ‘WALK THE DECKS’ in support of the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
Setting herself the challenge to walk 300km in the month of October is no mean feat, considering she’ll be in quarantine for the first week of the challenge, but the BHF is a charity close to her heart.
Sheena lost her father at a young age to heart disease and her mother is currently being treated for a damaged heart valve which is being replaced this month following a bad fall earlier in the year.
While she works Sheena will have fit in walking 10km a day, but she says the hard work will all be worth it to repay a charity who has helped so many people by being able to provide the necessary care and research to carry out her mother’s surgery so routinely.
“I’m looking forward to being able to visit my mum once the surgery is over and current Covid restrictions allow me to.” Sheena is hoping to be home for Christmas this year to spend time with her family.
If you want to support Sheena you can donate on her Just Giving page.
Good luck Sheena!
