While our ships are paused in operation it’s still important to recognise the efforts of our people on board – and Queen Victoria has been doing just that…

First off is QV’s Environmental Officer, Dave Keating, who was awarded the Environmental Compliance Plan (ECP) Reward Coin. ECP Reward Coins are given to recognise colleagues for their commitment to the environment.

Dave was awarded the coin for a number of reasons including:

  • The amount of time, energy and effort he gave to ensuring everyone concerned with the newly installed Bio Digester was fully aware of how it operated and how best to look after and run it. This knowledge was gained from experience on other vessels.
  • On top of that Dave went out of his way to produce a PowerPoint video and a set of instructions for anyone who missed his training sessions. This will be very useful to all newly joined personnel and Bio Digester operators and maintenance teams.
  • Thirdly, the way Dave goes about his day-to-day business on board with a positive attitude, jovial personality and creating a friendly environmental feeling throughout the ship.
  • Finally and not least, a congratulatory note for his cameo appearance on the latest ECP video currently circulating around the Fleet.

Captain Hoyt said “It’s a pleasure having Dave on board and we have all benefited from his knowledge, experience and of course the invaluable ‘scouse humour’! Well done Dave and thank you for everything you do, it is very much appreciated.”

And that’s not all – Elberto Layug, Chief Carpenter, also received his five year long service award from Captain Hoyt. Congratulations Elberto!
