After 20 years of creating unforgettable holiday happiness, Oceana will be leaving the P&O Cruises fleet in July 2020.

Carnival UK is committed to continued safe, environmentally sound and compliant operations, and as we continue to navigate the current Covid-19 situation, finding ways to optimise our pause in operations is vital. Oceana’s sale allows P&O Cruises to focus on the rest of their fleet, including the delivery of Iona and her sister ship and ensure the company is fit for future growth.

P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said:

Whilst we and many of our guests will miss Oceana, her departure will allow us to focus on our remaining ships in the fleet, as capacity expands with the delivery of Iona later this year followed by her sister ship, scheduled for 2022. During this pause in our operations we need to fit the fleet for the future and ensure we have the right mix of ships once we resume sailing.

Next steps…

Yesterday Oceana arrived in Southampton from Newcastle and will remain overnight tonight. She’ll then be reducing to essential manning and heading onward to her new destination port, arriving around 17 July before final handover to her new owners. At this point our crew on board will either return home where repatriation allows, or rejoin our other ships until we can safely get them home.

Oceana holds fond memories for many of us, having either holidayed or worked on board. While we make final preparations to hand over the ship to her new owners, we want to celebrate her time with P&O Cruises – if you have any stories or photos to share, please add them in the comments below or email them to internal.comms@carnivalukgroup.com
