There have been some great highlights to share with you from the last couple of months. Grab a cup, fill it up and take some time out to see what has been going on with our CUK charity partner, Southampton City Farm.

Fundraising and Events

The last couple of months have been busy for the fundraising team with a table top sale, cookies and cake sale to delight all taste buds as well as cash for the weekend events.

Given that this will be a challenging time, as we now work away from the office and each other, we’re committed to remaining connected to our value ‘better together’. We’ll therefore be thinking of some creative ways to work together to raise funds for our partner and one of these will be a sponsored virtual open michathon. The virtual open mic will include 24 hours of live virtual entertainment delivered by none other than some of your esteemed talented colleagues. If you’d be interested in taking part in this event please email Donate@carnivalukgroup.com.

Plate Up

As you may imagine this will be a problematic time for the charity losing out on community funds and sponsorship, due to COVID-19 restrictions on remaining open. Team members from the farm are still working however and remain focused on their livestock and day to day duties. Not only are they tending to animal welfare but they’re also reaching out to our local community through virtual activities and most importantly families in need.

They’re currently supporting the #plateup campaign which is a nationwide action to provide healthy emergency meals and food for children who may be at risk of going hungry during this time. This is a great campaign and one we’ll also be looking to put money towards, through our next event.

Moment of the Month

We’re very sad to announce that Priscilla the Pig peacefully passed away in her sleep this month. Priscilla lived on the farm for the past eight years and liked nothing better than to relax in the sunshine and roll around in the mud. Priscilla was loved by many of our own teams that would have visited the farm and she will be very much missed especially by her partner in crime, Penny, who’s the farm’s second pig. The very next week however bought great life to the farm with breaking news in the form of twin boy Lambkins. Elsa the sheep gave birth to two of the cutest lambs you’ve ever seen and we’ve included an image of them on our cover photo.

Thought of the day from the farm

Take a break with us and check out our brand new footage of our charity partner and all the things they do in addition to running a farm. This heart-warming account of their day to day work is admirable and we hope to be able to continue to raise funds in this difficult time to ensure communities can still benefit from their wonderful work.
