As we’re almost at the end of February that can only mean one thing… no we’re not talking about the leap year but how close we are to our goal of removing all non-recyclable Single Use Plastics from the Atrium Cafe, front of house.

As you’ll have seen in the weekly round-up we’ve been keeping you up to date with the main changes we’ve been making to help make our Atrium café much more sustainable!

Here’s a quick summary of what’s coming up:

  • From Friday 28 February we’ll be removing the take-away bowls for soup and porridge and passing on the savings straight to you! Following this you’ll need to:
    • Bring your own container,
    • Use the cafe’s ceramic bowls,
    • Or, purchase one of our new re-usable containers from the Atrium café

(Don’t forget if you’ve collected all five stamps using the new loyalty cards, you are entitled to collect a free re-usable bowl from the Atrium café!)
  • We’re removing the single use plastic packaging from the premium salads which means we’ll be making them 50p cheaper!
  • We’ll be introducing a new reusable container for the Premium Salads to enable this saving, so it’s vital you return the containers to the Atrium café or the new break out area ‘return points’ to enable us to wash & reuse these.
  • We’re working with Twinings to get ahead of the game and swap their plastic lined teabags to be plastic free. Teapigs, our other tea brand already offers plastic free tea.
  • We’ll be introducing a new rPET waste stream to Carnival House, this means any grab & go salads, dessert, protein  or fruit pots  can be returned to the new break out area ‘return points’ or the Atrium café to be recycled and repurposed.
  • We’ve removed single use plastics from our meeting catering & hospitality.

Thank you for all your support while we’ve been making changes – we’ll continue to keep you updated as we #packinplastics!
