At Carnival UK we celebrate the diversity of colleagues, encouraging everyone to bring their
whole selves to work. Being free to be yourself means being free to use your voice. That’s why we’re building a network of Employee Experience Groups (EEG) across Carnival House.

Our EEGs will compliment our eNPS Pulse surveys which help to identify areas of focus, while the EEG will enable people to elaborate on those points in between surveys and share the story behind the data. All feedback will be confidential and communicated to the ELT with the intention of making everyone happier in the workplace.

Shared Services has now collectively come together to form its own group which is made up of individuals that represent each area across the department. Meet the representatives below:

Darren Clarke
I’m a naturally positive person, a team player, and I’m passionate about fairness and equality. When I first joined Carnival in March 2019, I was amazed at how well employees are treated, and the openness and approachability of our leadership teams. But I am also a realist, and appreciate that not all of us live in a perfect world. I joined the SSO EEG to help drive positive change and to try to make Carnival an even better place to work. I’m a published author & illustrator and I love Marvel, Star Wars and James Bond movies, and learning new things. If I was a dog I’d be a Labrador.

Anita van den Broek
I have been working for Carnival as an IT Project Manager since April 2019. I enjoy a variety of creative arts, especially photography. I joined the EEG because I am passionate about making Carnival a fantastic place to work and to give our SSO colleagues a voice.

Jess Biggerstaff
I have been with Carnival UK for nearly 7 years and have loved every minute! If you ask anyone what the best thing about working here is, they will always say the people and that’s why we need to look after them. I have just started a new role which is all about the Contact Centre Operations (CCO) people and how we can make CUK an even better place to work. I’m excited to be representing such a large part of SSO and hope that together, we can make a difference.

Louisa Murray
I have worked for CUK for 2 and a half years and Shared Services for 6 months. Since I started working here I have seen a huge amount of improvement in the employee experience and I hope the the EEG can keep the momentum going and continue that upward trend. The EEG is important to me because I want everyone to feel that their voice is heard and valued, I have a passion for people and I am excited to make a difference. I currently work in the Planning team for Shared Services, but I will also be representing Facilities team and Carnival Support Services India (CSSI).

Stuart Jackson
I’ve worked as a Manager in OBR since joining the company in 2017, where I oversee our onboard Photography operations across both brands. It’s really exciting to be part of the SSO EEG, and I’m confident we will succeed in making CUK the best places to work in the travel industry. Outside of work I have a love for mountains, and have hiked to Everest Base Camp, Machu Picchu , and summited Kilimanjaro, Mount Toubkal and Nangkar Tshang in Nepal.

Tracy Githieya
I work in Procurement and Supply Chain as a Technical Buyer and I have been with the company for 3 years. I enjoy going to coffee shops by myself. I believe that being comfortable and enjoying our place of work has a direct impact on productivity and our commitment to the business. I volunteered to join the EEG as I would love to be a part of the team helping drive Carnival UK’s commitment to continuously enhance employee experience, and most importantly encourage engagement within the Procurement and Supply chain department on our areas of focus.

Sonja Cross
I have worked in the contact centre for 8 years now, delivering sales, communicating to our guests and creating their dream holidays. I am pleased that I have been given an opportunity to be involved in the Employee Experience Group and to be the voice for the Contact Centre. I’m a very approachable person and I hope to encourage everyone to open up and share their thoughts (in complete confidence) with me! That way we can make Carnival an even happier and more vibrant place to work.

Kevin Cheung
I work in the Newbuild & Hotel Refit department and my role is to look after the Financials for all Newbuilds, forecasting & tracking costs, bench-marking with other brands are a few examples. After the end of this month it will mean that I have worked in Carnival for 10 years. i enjoy playing badminton and binge-watching Netflix dramas. I volunteered to join EEG to help improve work place environment and contributing to making Carnival a great place to work.

Katie Gould
I am the Executive Assistant to Chris Lees, EVP Shared Services and I’ve worked at Carnival for 5 and a half years. I’m mum to two 2 1/2 year-old twins Luke & Olivia, they keep me super busy! Between the mayhem of twin life I try and squeeze in a couple of runs a week where I can, although this might need to increase very soon as I’ve foolishly signed up for the Edinburgh half marathon. I’m really excited to be a member of the SSO EEG and to be a part of helping to make positive change for our colleagues across Shared Services and the wider business.

Laura Van Gass
I have worked with the company for over 15 years and seen a lot of growth and change. I’m really encouraged by the positive changes we’ve seen to our people culture. I believe Carnival UK are genuinely invested in making CUK a happy and engaging place to work, helping us to “bring our best selves each day”. The business is listening! It’s a perfect time to get involved in the changes, share your thoughts and offer suggestions of what, for you, would make Carnival UK a great place to work.

Our mission
“The SSO EEG will provide our Shared Services colleagues with a trusted open-door feedback link directly into the SLT. By listening to your concerns and suggestions, we will hold the SLT to account by voicing our people’s true feelings about the SSO employee experience. We will act with integrity and confidentiality to guarantee all feedback is valued and communicated.”
