In our recent Carnival Corporation Mission and Carnival UK Core Values campaign, we highlighted how we’re passionate about developing stronger teams and better collaboration. This week we’re launching ORCA – Operational, Risk, Coordination and Activity – to help us achieve our goal of working ‘better together’.
What is ORCA?
Not the whale. ORCA is the central hub of knowledge providing situational awareness supporting our fleet and shoreside operations. In essence, if you have a concern about something to do with a ship, the fleet, or anything managed shoreside, ORCA will coordinate and support a solution.
Over the past few months we’ve been piloting a new fleet support programme to help us better monitor and manage our ships centrally. For example, helping coordinate our efforts when Thomas Cook went into administration. As well as supporting you with any concerns you have, the ORCA team identify any risks and issues in advance and put in place proactive plans to help minimise the impact. As the central coordination point for risk planning it ensures there is one version of the truth, keeping everyone informed.
What does ORCA stand for?
Operational – Providing one source of operational performance and situational awareness, giving you the right information at the right time.
Risk – Planning for risk to help support our fleet and shore; managing disruption and helping minimise the impact of disruption.
Coordination – Coordinating the delivery of one plan to the fleet and shore, giving stakeholders all the information in one place.
Activity – Proactively managing attendance to the fleet, providing stakeholders with awareness.
