Today mark’s International Day of People with Disabilities, encouraging an inclusive and accessible future for all those living with a health impairment, working together to remove and overcome barriers.

At Carnival UK we’re working hard to build an inclusive community where the employee experience is personalised and people feel valued and that they belong, and we want people to join and stay at Carnival UK because of this culture. That’s why, as part of our commitment to becoming an inclusive employer of choice, we’re the first cruise company to partner with Evenbreak, the UK’s most accessible job board. Run by and for disabled people, Evenbreak helps talented disabled candidates and inclusive employers to find each other. Initially we’ll be advertising shoreside roles and we’ll consult with Evenbreak on the recruitment of our fleet roles.

In addition, Evenbreak also offer a support service which everyone at Carnival UK will be able to benefit from, helping to encourage conversations around disability, long-term health conditions and reasonable adjustments.

Commenting on our partnership with Evenbreak, Cunard President Simon Palethorpe said:

“I’m delighted that Carnival UK has partnered with Evenbreak. As Chair of our Belonging & Inclusion steering group, I am privileged to work with some very committed individuals from across the business to create a fabulous working environment where everyone feels they belong. Our ambition is for people to choose to work for Carnival UK for precisely this reason.

Our business is dynamic and complex and we need a broad range of skills and experience to deliver terrific holidays for our Guests. We want to make sure the opportunities to work at Carnival UK are visible to everyone, so we find the very best people for the job.”

We’re working hard to build a better working environment for all of our colleagues but the only way we can continue to create an inclusive and accessible workplace is to have a better understanding of who we are doing it for. So if you have a health impairment and feel as though you would benefit from some reasonable adjustments in the work place, speak to your line manager about a referral to occupational health and don’t forget to update your details on My HR Portal.
