As part of our Celebrating My Best Me season, we’re celebrating the diversity and achievements of colleagues at Carnival UK.

Over the next few weeks we’re sharing people stories from Carnival House and all across our fleet…

On 1 January every year I start a new glass to write certain things down and add into it as the year goes by. For example a special day at the beach, or one of my children reaching an important milestone or achievement.  That means that on 31 December each year I can reflect on what a great year it’s been!

Liz Scott, Manager, Communications & Contact Centre Support

Christmas to me is a time to celebrate love and joy. It’s not about material gifts but an expression of love and peace. It’s a time for families to reconcile – a time for being united.

Perlaine Gracia, Junior Waiter, P&O Cruises

This year i took part in the Prince’s Trust Palace to Palace cycle challenge. With all the events that have taken place in the Atrium regarding the Prince’s Trust, it’s good to know that I’ve been able to support in a small way to hopefully help a young person see a brighter future.

Kate Cornhill, Senior HR Business Partner, Finance

This year I graduated with a Masters of Science in Applied Computing. This has enabled me to become research focused driven and build expanding knowledge within the IT and Business daily infrastructure operations in areas of Cloud computing, Business analysis, Testing and auditing SME websites . Furthermore, my MSc involved with systematic approaches on ways to improve systems and build new research methodology on current issues within IT and Business context environment. Future goal is to take my MSc thesis and build it on a PhD study.

Saqib Elahi, Advisor, Identity & Access Management, Technology

This year I started my days with ‘to-do lists’ which helps me stay focused. When I don’t do this I end up not efficiently making use of time. My to-do lists help me to stay on top of important day-to-day projects, tasks and decisions. Real growth comes with hard work and self-improvement – being too comfortable in our ways makes us stagnant.

Tetiana Fedosieienko, Maitre D’Hotel, Cunard

This year has been a mix of life milestones, including our little one’s first holiday and a heart operation at the age of 23 – heart issues are something I’m keen to spread the awareness of.

We’re enjoying a family Christmas in the peace and quiet (at least as quiet as a 1 year old can be!)

Alexander Francis, Senior Portfolio Analyst, Maritime

This is my favourite time of year! Christmas brings with it the nostalgic feelings of peace, love and joy as we celebrate the birth of Christ. A gentle wind down to the year and one can certainly feel it in the air.

Celebrating on board this year with my Queen Victoria family will be an absolute delight. I can’t wait for all the decor to go up!

Sharὀn Ryan, Learning & Development Officer

In September I raised £1,100 for Breast Cancer Haven by undertaking a 100KM challenge around the Brecon Beacons which involved some hills, a lot of mud and around 20KM running and 80KM cycling. Its fair to say I never want to see a Welsh hill again!
