Our charity partner Southampton City Farm has had a great month this month thanks to all of our amazing support from employees at Carnival house. See some of our highlights below including where we are at with our fundraising target, which teams have been busy having fun at the farm and our moment of the month.
Fundraising and Events
As you may know we’re committed to raising £25,000 by July next year. So far we’ve raised almost £2,000 from events such as the Shipmates charity quiz, Dave Varty’s bird table raffle and the People team’s bake off event. It’s going to be an exciting couple of weeks ahead with Halloween festivities for all to get involved in, including a trick or treat treasure hunt and deadly desk decorating. We have also re-launched the 50/50 raffle, which is a monthly draw that invites all employees to take part by making a donation to a crowd funding page. Please note to be in with a chance of winning 50% of the cash entrants must include their full name against their donations. We will unfortunately not be able to trace anonymous donations.
Volunteering
Wow what an amazing couple of months we’ve had and a fantastic response from teams and individuals all over the business. Weve had a total of seven teams go out already (that’s 59 individuals) and 24 teams scheduled to visit. Debbie took her team from Port Operations and Services during October and had a beautiful day helping out. She says “By working as team we quickly turned / shifted the compost heap and topped up the paths to help the farm prepare for their forthcoming Halloween events”. Giving everyone an opportunity to help out on this fantastic cause really will make a difference and we’re so pleased so many people are interested.
Moment of the month
A raffle organised by Dave Varty raised a staggering £1,125.79p from raffle tickets sold to CUK employees. Dave donated three prizes, chocolate goodies, a woodwork insect hotel and a beautiful bird table, the latter two handcrafted by Dave himself, made from recycled teak decking from Oriana.
