Whether they work on ship or shore, whether they work in a kitchen, an engine room or an office, we rely on brilliant people to create unforgettable holiday happiness for our Guests, and unforgettable careers for our people.

From saving lives, to acts of safety and delivering exceptional service, our award-winning colleagues for March have all gone above and beyond while at work.

Queen Elizabeth – Nards Arsenio, Painter Polisher

Fifty of our dining room pepper mills were worn out and no longer presentable. After speaking to Arsenio he took the initiative and collected six pepper mills a week and polished them like brand new.
Every time he returns the polished pepper mills he has a Charismatic smile, and with his Refined attitude he collects them by himself from the restaurant when no one is around. Each pepper mill cost’s $25, Arsenio with his relentless hard work has saved $1250, and now the Britannia staff offer pepper with a shinny pepper mill. For his Thoughtfulness the entire Britannia team are Proud to unanimously nominate Arsenio as White Star of the Month.

Queen Victoria – Joy Mwangi, Receptionist

During the 19 night cruise to the Mediterranean we had a regular guest onboard who is partially sighted. The guest loves to look her best so Joy took it upon herself to help  with her make up each day in her stateroom and at the desk. It is the small touches that our guests appreciate the most and keep them returning time after time. Thank you Joy for your White Star Service and making our guests feel and look special.

Queen Mary 2 – Mahendra Kumar, Senior Security Patrolman

Mahendra Kumar, who despite being assaulted by a violent and deranged guest who punched him in the neck and spat in his face, was calm in restraining the guest and remaining professional throughout. He is a credit to the department.

Arcadia – Vasil Zhelev, Bosun

Vasil ensures he plans ahead to assist working with other departments and leads the deck team tirelessly in improving the ship appearance all the time. He enthusiastically handles difficult projects for example; safe repainting the ship funnel and progressing on balconies improvement with washing and derusting, working on balcony railings exchange plan and always guiding the deck fitter on open decks. Vasil also went out in Gibraltar to buy with his own money drill bits so the balconies project can progress. He is always friendly and a true leader of the seamen, a leader who quietly makes things happen and had a particular important role during the cleaning operations of the AAQS incident in Canada. Another great example was his suggestion for a locker on board to store safely unconventional oxygen bottles for travelling guests prove to be an excellent idea minimising the impact on medical, technical and housekeeping team but mostly for the guests who just embarked the ship.

Aurora – Leonelia De Castro, Demi Chef De Party

Leonelia recieved 10 guest feedback cards. Commenting on Leonelia’s smile, manner, attitude and service has made their cruise’, ‘must cook 500 omelettes per day and yet does it with warmth and a smiles’, ‘remembers guests order’. ‘Leonelia is an excellent employee’, ‘so friendly and the best way to start the day’, ‘brilliant’.

Azura – Ricky Rone, Hotel Assistant

Ricky is on his first contract and was really feeling homesick initially. He decided to turn things around to by focusing on what he can do instead of what he cannot do and in this he has truly embraced his role as Hotel Assistant involved in the management of food waste. He has been proactive with ideas and promotion of how we can better manage food waste and how we can engage our crew to support. A fine example of leading by example and inspiring others.

Britannia– Priyank Singh, Waiter

The present financial year seems to be very challenging in regards to meeting our Select Dining cover charge targets and hence we encouraged the Waiters in the Main Dining Rooms to promote these to our guests and gain additional revenue, however Priyank has gone out of his way not only delivering great service to guests in his section but also has a natural convincing ability to entice them to dine in our Speciality Dining Outlets so much to an extent that he single-handedly has generated £14000 worth revenue in one month, which is a real testament of his passion, commitment, going the extra mile for the department and a true example of “Taking Pride in doing things”

Oceana – Devlyn Gracias, Sous Chef

Just before our last call to Malta, one of our crew member from the galley department suddenly experienced a chest pain in the early morning, while on his shift he informed Sous Chef on duty about the same and requested if he can go to the cabin and take some rest. Instead of going to the cabin the Sous Chef Delvyn Gracias, escorted the restless crew member to the medical centre, where they later on realised it was a stroke and the crew member was disembarked. Due to his decision and as duty of care in taking the crew member straight to the medical centre, he saved the crew members life.

Ventura – Perlito Pinpin, IT Technician

Perlito pro-actively sought out a solution to the lack of crew kiosks onboard, knowing this was a common complaint and irritant for our crew members. With some creative thinking and asking questions when many before him did not, the ship was able to re-instate a defunct kiosk in the Hub and provide additional resources for our crew onboard.
