You may have notices from the signs around Carnival House and various emails that as of the 30th September we are removing all single use cups from the building. This includes cups from the Atrium Café, vending machines and Zip Taps.
This is a great step on the way to improve our sustainability as a business. By removing these cups we will reduce, on average, the use of 750,000 single use cups each year! We are doing this because it is the right thing to do in our continued commitment to support our environment. We hope that you get on board with the reasons why we have taken this step.
In the build up to 30th September we have given out 1,300 reusable cups in Carnival House. However, if you missed a giveaway then you can purchase a cup from the Atrium Café for £2.50.
Facilities are the team behind the removal of single use cups and they have been working really hard to deliver this sustainable solution by running cup giveaways, installing dishwashers amongst other things behind the scenes. Thanks to the team’s efforts we will no longer be sending ¾ of a million cups a year through our general waste streams to be incinerated.
FAQs 
What about visitors or if I forget my cup? 
There will be mugs and glasses by the Conference Suite and Reception vending machines. When your visitor has finished with their cup or glass please place this in the Atrium Café carousel, by any dishwasher or back by one of the vending machines. These will be washed and returned to their original location. The Atrium cafe will continue to have mugs as well.
How will I keep my own cup, glass or bottle clean? 
Dishwashers have been installed on all of the floors. They have a two minute wash cycle, can take 20+ items per wash. The dishwashers are pre-loaded with detergent, rinse aid and salt. All you need to do is follow the simple instructions by every machine. Just make sure your re-useable items are dishwasher safe.
Please be aware that the dishwashers work on a very hot cycle. Please take care when opening the dishwasher door and handling the washed items.
I missed the cup giveaways, how can I get a reusable cup?
We are sorry that you didn’t manage to get one of the 1300 cups we’ve given out in the last few months. However, reusable cups are for sale in the Atrium Café for £2.50.
