Whether they work on ship or shore, whether they work in a kitchen, an engine room or an office, we rely on brilliant people to create unforgettable holiday happiness for our Guests, and unforgettable careers for our people.

From saving lives, to acts of safety and delivering exceptional service, our award-winning colleagues for March have all gone above and beyond while at work.

Queen Elizabeth – Shavaune Grobler, Photographer

A guest who was on a tour with Shavaune fainted. She stayed behind with the guest to make sure she was OK and to wait for the ambulance. The guest ended up not going to the hospital so Shavaune helped her get back to the ship, paying for the taxi to take them back and waiting with the guest until medical arrived. She sacrificed almost a full day to make sure this guest arrived safely back to the ship.

Queen Mary 2 – Billy De Tomas, Commis de Cuisine

Billy is always proud of what he serves in the Kings Court hot theatre. He has a very friendly attitude to everyone, especially to our guests. Billy is enthusiastic in selling and promoting the food he serves and received about 50 White Star cards within the last 3 Voyages from the guests by exceeding their expectations with regards to food and friendliness. Billy is very thoughtful and charismatic towards our guests.

Queen Victoria – Paulino Nillama, Deck Petty Officer

On a busy tendering operation in Cannes during Cannes Yachting Festival, Paulino was driving a tender inbound into the crowded harbour. Whilst en route to the guests’ disembarkation platforms, one of the big yachts suddenly changed course. Many guests on the tender noticed Paulino’s prompt reaction in stopping the tender immediately and made sure he remained in “safe waters” until the other very undecided boat had passed and cleared. All guests on the tender gave Paulino a round of applause as they realised that he had taken control of the situation and had managed to stop safely, if abruptly, and not hit the other boat.
Paulino’s actions certainly saved a lot of upset amongst the guests and they all showed their appreciation as they left the tender.
Paulino is a very experienced Deck Petty Officer and an excellent coxswain whom, once again, has demonstrated the commitment and the responsibility of what it is to be in charge of a boat for the safety of our guests. Well done Paulino.

Arcadia – Lauren Mackrell & Alyson Butcher Entertainment Hosts

Lauren & Ally put much time and effort into choreographing the dance routine, then continued to teach and help record with member of the ships company that were in the video. A lot of effort and hard work, mostly in their own time to achieve the final result – well done!

Aurora –Ghulam Subhani Chief Petty Officer

Ever since he joined Aurora, Subhani has worked tirelessly and he lead his team by example. Thanks to his hard work there are vast improvements in appearance of all areas he is responsible for. Furthermore he has helped a lot other departments to prepare the ship for USPH inspection. Apart from hard working he uses a great deal of skills and initiative to improve operations. The example could be freeing up the pontoon fenders which previously, for long time needed lots of time, hammering etc. to be rigged and de-rigged and now they move freely. All in one a great role model to follow.

Azura – Nisar Khan, Deck Petty Officer

Nisar was the tender driver who picked up the migrants during A925, showing exceptional boat handling skill, whilst remaining calm in a difficult situation.
Nisar was also the tender driver during the MOB during the tender operation in Monte Carlo. In this event, again Nisar showed exceptional skill behind the helm of the tender, managing to hold the bow of it off the pontoon against the elements whilst the lines were still attached. By doing this, he avoided making contact (and thus seriously injuring / killing) the person in the water. This was 16 hours into the operation. After sleeping on the streets, he then safely brought the tender / guests and crew back to the ship in the morning.

Britannia– Harrison Cassidy, Electro Technical Cadet

During a crew event at the Serenity Pool a crew member was rescued from the pool. Harrison was the person who found the crew member at the bottom of the pool bringing him up and calling for help. Harrison with help of two other members of the Ship’s company pulled and pushed the crew member out of the pool. Without these joint efforts, the crew member would have been serious injured or died, but is now making a full recovery.

Oceana – Selvakumar Nadar, Head Waiter

Selvakumar has gone the extra mile, above and beyond his duty call in a critical situation of saving a guest life. Assisted by an experienced nurse sitting close by, he saved a father, a husband, a brother and uncle to a family on a cruise. The guest was dining in the Ligurian restaurant, choked on his meal and this was noticed by Selvakumar. He saved his life by using the “Heimlich manoeuvre” to clear his throat and saved his life. Selvakumar received 5 nominations for what he did.

Ventura – Rogelio Nacorda, Engine Fitter

During our call in La Coruna, a major internal leak occurred in the Engine Room Fwd system, affecting all 4 of the forward Main Engines. Without repairs the ship would have been unable to sail. The repair was challenging due to the location in the Bilge with pipe obstructions. He came up with repair idea and procedure and personally carried out the repairs, which involved welding on his back, wedged between 2 pipes. He saved the day and the voyage!
