Queen Elizabeth – Roderic Rivera, Waste Disposal Supervisor

Roderic is very proud in what he is doing, keeping the Recycling Centre operation to very high standards. With shortages in manning and inexperienced personnel Roderic is managing the routine operation and completing all additional newly introduced weekly inspections of the Food waste system and weekly cleaning of Crew and passengers galleys grease traps. Those are very unpleasant jobs and take long hours to complete but Roderic always completes them without any hesitation.
Roderic has very positive attitude and he is always ready to help his fellow crew members.

Queen Mary 2 – Oliver Cruz, Kennel Master

During a recent cruise from New York to Southampton  we unfortunately had a dog called Badger who was viciously attacked in an unprovoked incident in our Kennels by two larger breeds of dog. Thankfully, if it were not for the brave and prompt actions of the Kennel Master, Oliver Cruz, it was evident that Badger may not have survived. Neither owner of the respective larger breed of dogs were able to control or restrain their dogs during the incident. The injuries Badger received were severe, requiring stitches from the on board Senior Doctor. Immediately after the incident, Oliver applied initial first aid  in an attempt to prevent infection.Well done Oliver and thank you for your bravery, care and compassion shown to Badger and his owners. His decisive actions undoubtedly prevented this situation from being much worse than it already was!

Jeffred is working in Vegetable Preparation in charge of the Pulper station. Every morning, afternoon and evening he needs to check every morsel of food and every skin of the fruit to check the non food item in the food garbage bin is not dumped into the pulper to comply with ECP requirements. Over the last four months that he has been assigned to this job, he has taken initiative to recognise the importance of it and improved himself vastly. He does his job with dedication, sincerity and ability. He is very obedient, sincere and committed to his job and takes responsibility. As we all are aware it is not the easiest or most glamorous job, but Jeffred does it professionally and willingly to avoid any non-conformance with the company policy and procedure.

Arcadia – Alyson Butcher, Entertainment Host

Aly was very professional, kind and helpful when dealing with a difficult incident with a disabled guest who needed medical attention. The medical team were extremely impressed by her manner in the way she dealt with the young man who had learning difficulties.

Aurora – Mary Ann De La Cruz Hotel Assistant

Mary was nominated by seven of her colleagues who are either new to sea or first time working in Housekeeping, Mary took time to help them learn their jobs efficiently by sharing her knowledge and experience so that they become self reliant.

Azura – Manoj Kumar, Assistant Housekeeping Manager

For the past couple of months Manoj has been covering two roles of Housekeeping Manager and Assistant Manager, and I have been impressed at how calm and helpful he has remained during this challenging period. His team have regularly provided assistance to Security on the gangway, which has been most appreciated.

Britannia– Jaymark Amigleo, Hotel Assistant

Whilst assisting with the tender operations, Jaymark provided exceptional service to the guests when assisting them back into the tender boats. He personally welcomed every single guest back on board with a smile and a ‘welcome back’ and continued to provide the same level of interaction despite carrying this task for almost two hours. His standards of service never slipped once and many guests commented on how great his service was.

Oceana – Jack Watson, Laura Quinn and Corinne Clampin, Pool Supervisors

This months award goes to a group who worked as a team when a sudden incident occurred in the Riviera pool, responding to a guest who had gone into the pool and got into difficulty. A guest had rolled over onto her front in the pool. All three reacted quickly and professionally to flip the guest back onto her back and used the pool hoist to bring the guest safely out of the pool. The guest was then closely monitored to ensure she was OK.

Ventura – Joseph Fernandez, Fitter

When returning on board in port of La Coruna between the shore terminal and the gangway one crew member was taking out the laminex from his back pocket and dropped a lot of money on the pier. Joseph got the money and straight away gave it back to the crew member. It was very straight decision and Joseph did it without any doubt.
