Last Tuesday (25 June) marked the Day of the Seafarer – the International Maritime Organisation’s specially selected date for us all to pause and reflect on the truly marvelous role seafarers past and present have played and continue to play in the world today.

We were no different, colleagues on shore and on board paused to take time out of their busy days to celebrate fellow colleagues and friends on board and seafarers all over the world. In Carnival House, there was a host of activities during the day, including sea shanties from The Salty Sea Dogs and the opportunity to meet some of our world class cadets and seafarers.

On board, the fleet have been busy marking Day of the Seafarer too. As well as a fleet-wide seafaring poem competition, colleagues on board Arcadia held a ship’s company dinner, with ice cream, chocolate fountain and a special Day of the Seafarer cake, made by the galley team. An excellent way to celebrate a special day!
