We’re dedicated to ensuring our ship’s company are comfortable, healthy and happy. That’s why we’ve introduced new executive wellness checks for our Carnival UK Deck and Tech officers who attend our Center for Simulator Maritime Training (CSMART) facility.

Each year, many of these officers are medically disembarked from our ships, and the cause is often related to poorly-controlled chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes. Many of these officers are not aware they have underlying health issues.
With this in mind, CSMART is equipped with a health facility, which has already completed over 2500 Officer wellness exams across the corporation since its opening in 2017. Starting in July 2019, Carnival UK Officers can now take part in new wellness checks which includes a Flag State approved Statutory Medical exam carried out by independent doctors who will then issue a Netherlands Shipping Inspectorate (“NSI”) certificate. These certificates are acceptable to all the Flag States of our Group and are equivalent to both the Italian Biennale and UK MCA ENGL.
For our people who need an Italian Biennale or UK MCA ENGl, this benefit is provided to them for free alongside their normal their training at CSMART! It also protects their valuable leave periods as they won’t need to take part in any extra medical exams.
A bit about CSMART
Opened in July 2009 and located in Almere, Netherlands, CSMART Academy established itself as a world-class training center for safety, sustainability and operational excellence in maritime operations. It features the most advanced simulator equipment, technology and instructional tools, which provide the Carnival Corporation Deck and Technical Officers with a superior maritime training experience that emphasizes critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making.
Our officer’s continued good health and future careers are vitally important to us and we’re confident this program will help them maintain their own wellbeing.
