Today marks a special milestone for P&O Cruises. It’s 365 days until Britain’s largest ever cruise ship, Iona, sets sail on her maiden voyage!

As part of this year’s Summer of Happiness, which focuses on encouraging and supporting each and every one of us to be the best version of ourselves, today’s events will be an opportunity to broaden your knowledge and find out more about Iona and the experiences she will offer our Guests as well as our people whilst at sea.

The main event
Join us this morning in the Atrium from 11.15 when we will be opening the event with some very special Guests. We’ll also have warm up entertainment in the Atrium from 11am for those who would like to join a little earlier.

In the Atrium between 12pm and 4pm you’ll also be able to take part in our pop up activities:

  • Iona exhibition – Explore Iona’s public spaces including the Grand Atrium and SkyDome
  • Iona Virtual Experience – Be one of the first to experience Iona in 360 degrees
  • Taste foods from the destinations Iona will sail – We’ll be providing samples throughout the day
  • Explore Iona’s Shore Excursions – Find out more about the excursions Iona will offer!
  • Meet Iona’s Project Delivery Team – Listen to a 15 minute talk with one of our experts including, art curator, Tom Tempest Radford!
  • Teenage Cancer Trust Cyclothon – Take on the challenge and help us cycle those 1,196 miles
  • Teenage Cancer Trust Merchandise – Help us raise our fundraising total of £1,500 by purchasing some Teenage Cancer Trust goodies.

Ted Talks
Today we would love everyone to take the opportunity to immerse themselves into Iona and learn something that they didn’t know about our newest ship to join the P&O Cruises fleet. We’ve got six Guest Speakers delivering short talks today, make sure you pop down, have a listen and see what you can learn.

1200hrs – Iona’s significance to the brand with Rob Scott, VP Brand and Product Development
1230hrs – Interior design with Alison Clixby, Hotel Designs and Project Director
1300hrs – Getting technical with David Christian, Maritime New Build Director and Steven Young, VP Port and Shore Operations
1330hrs – Discover Iona’s restaurants and bars with Haydn Davis, Culinary Development Manager
1400hrs –  Find our more about Iona’s Artwork with art curator, Tom Tempest Radford
1430hrs –  Discover shore excursions with PJ Gould, Iona Shore Experiences Manager

The Cyclothon – sign up
If you’d like to take part in today’s Cyclothon, please do sign up Z drive > Teenage Cancer Trust . There will be a prize for the fastest mile and the most miles cycled in 15 minutes.

If your showing off you pedal power today don’t forget to download the ‘My wellness app’> create an account and then join the Iona 365 challenge. You’ll need to scan the QR code on the bike and then cycle!

For those of you on board, events will be run across all eight ships too – look out for information in your ship’s company area.

WIN the chance to see Garry Richardson’s BBC Radio 5 Sportsweek LIVE
Enter the Teenage Cancer Trust raffle today and you could win the chance to visit BBC’s Broadcasting House and be a special guest of BBC broadcaster Garry Richardson as he presents his BBC Radio 5 Sportsweek programme live. The prize is for two adults and two children (aged 14+). Raffle tickets available for £1 from the Atrium between 12pm and 3pm.
