| A bit about CSSI CSSI supports us to recruit exceptional people for our ships in India. Starting from a modest five-member team it’s grown into a 160 person operation which manages approximately twenty-two thousand members of ships’ company! CSSI have evolved to now provide a wide array of services and support for many crew lifecycle processes. |
Carnival Support Services India’s (CSSI) – one of our manning agents in India – revamped job portal, which launched last year, has already pulled in over 30,000 applicants and continues to help us recruit some great people for our ships.
Over the past year they’ve added a lot of new features to the portal which has meant a simpler and more effective recruitment process for both the potential candidates and the recruiters, including:
The site now automatically rates a candidate based on four areas – Education, Experience, Keywords and Trip Advisor Rating of the establishment the candidate works for or has past experience. This means recruiters can now pick the most qualified candidates from thousands of applicants.- It can automatically send out emails to candidates through personalised templates during various stages in the recruitment process. It allows recruiters to push to-do lists to candidates to keep up to date with their progress as it’s happening.
- All interviews are video recorded on the website directly and a smart speech-to-text function captures candidate responses as a transcript. This has reduced the number of interviewers from two to one, improving efficiency.
CSSI aren’t just finishing there…They’re introducing an industry-first Virtual Career Fair (VCF) feature which is expected to launch in the month of May 2019. The VCF is a platform which allows a candidate to speak to a recruiter directly from the comforts of their home at a scheduled date on live video chat. This will really help job seekers who may not be able to attend our job fairs because they live too far away. The other two features in the pipeline this year include the US Consulate access module for validation of a visa applicant’s credentials online, and the use of Artificial Intelligence in selection of candidates.
As P&O Cruises introduces our new ship IONA next year, and Cunard work on Halifax, the recruitment demand has increased in 2019 with around 1,300 crew to be hired for Carnival UK alone. Also our partner brands are launching new ships, which will see approximately 2500 new recruits this year.
With around 18 job fairs and 15 campus recruitment drives scheduled in 2019, CSSI will continue to use social media to create more awareness about our brand and use their revamped job portal to help recruit the right people for our ships!
