Part of being ‘Heroes of safe and well’ means we’re committed to doing our best for the environment which is why we’re pleased to say that we’ve been recognised again for our energy management.
In Q4 last year we were delighted to successfully keep our energy certificate (ISO50001) following our external audit. ISO50001 supports organisations in all sectors to use energy more efficiently, through the development of an energy management system (EnMS). Not only did we pass the external audit but In Q1 we passed our internal audit as well – both with flying colours!
Keeping the momentum going…
To continue making improvements we’ve upgraded the lighting in our Carnival House reception and ground floor corridors, around conference suite, to LED. We’re also working hard on our objective to achieve a saving of 1% (c.53MWh) usage on utilities (electricity, gas heating and cooling) across all facilities. This saving could heat and power a typical UK home* for around two and a half years!
This is a challenging target when we consider the great savings already achieved in the last few years and the increased occupancy of Carnival House and The Academy.
And here’s where you come in…
Remember you can play your part too, so please do all you can to reduce our energy use. This could be as simple as turning off your monitor at the end of each day or closing meeting room doors when you leave the room to ensure the air conditioning works more efficiently. You can also make sure to report faults (email facilities.faultreporting@carnivalukgroup.com) like dripping taps or faulty toilet flushes which will make a difference to our water consumption.
