Queen Elizabeth – Benie Pedroso, Chief Carpenter

Benie received nominations for his hard work and quick response to flooding that effected cabins. Along with his team he replaced carpets and returned the cabins to their high standard. Benie and his team were also nominated by the Lido Buffet team who said “The best way to describe Bennie and his carpenter team is to compare them to the character of Gonzalo on the island of Imperia; charismatic, thoughtful, proud and refined which in overall represents us, the service that we want to provide and Cunard’s White Star Service.” 

Queen Mary 2 – Ralph Sabangan, Galley Administrator

Ralph has supported his F&B colleagues during a particularly busy period when they had to redesign large parts of the menu cycle due to unforeseen circumstances. This meant a lot of extra work needing to be picked up by Ralph who did so with an excellent ‘Can Do’ attitude, even though the tasks wouldn’t normally sit with his role. He is a great role model for all crew members and should be recognized for his exemplary work attitude.

Queen Victoria – I Putu Crysna, Junior Waiter

When there was the possibility of having to urgently medically disembark a Guest in an unfamiliar port in Indonesia,I Putu came to assist with translating between the ship and the local authorities. Without his assistance, the process would have taken considerably longer and, even though the Guest remained on board, without his help communication with the local authorities would have been very limited. An excellent example of a colleague going above and beyond.


Arcadia – Jess Beck Alabastro, Assistant Waiter

Jess received 27 nominations – 10 from Guests and a staggering 17 from colleagues! All of them praised him for the fact that he always helps his colleagues, without being prompted, and teaches them about marketing and promoting the select restaurants, giving examples of how to deliver better service to the Guests. The Guests nominations commented on how they felt that he was delivered excellent service, outstanding friendliness, is always smiling and of course, nothing is ever too much trouble.

Aurora – Zubin Joshi, Reception Manager

Zubin had several Guest nominations, but of particular note was the group leader from an Israeli tour group who praised Zubin for his help in arranging all procedures for the group and for being always available. Within the group there were many Guests who struggled with the English language and Zubin went above and beyond to assist them.

Azura – Nicholas Evett, Customer Services Manager

Nick was nominated for working so hard while covering Administration Manager, Night Manager and his own work as Customer Services Manager. It was all done with a smile on his face and he was always approachable and helpful to everyone.

Britannia – Sanah Khan, Cyber Librarian

Sanah received numerous Guest nominations for providing superb service, having lots of patience and a helpful nature. Easy to get on with, Sanah is full of life and character and remains calm and friendly in difficult situations. She’s gone the extra mile on various occasions in booking flights, assisting on crucial internet queries and finding a book that a Guest was particularly looking for. Well done Sanah and keep up the excellent work.

Oceana – Fatima Kadmiri, Demi Chef De Partie

During a medical disembarkation in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Fatima was called upon as Arabic is her local language. She helped to translate vital information between Oceana’s medical team and the shore based officials and medical team. Fatima had to liaise with many individuals and was also asked if she would accompany the patient (Guest) and family to the local hospital. Fatima voluntarily agreed and changed into her local dress, ready to go ashore. She played an important role that day. She was very patient and caring during the entire operation.

Oriana – Craig Duggan, Chief Petty Officer

Craig has worked tirelessly throughout the Passenger Ship Safety Certificate (PSSC) inspection working with the survey in an extremely efficient manner to get as much as possible achieved in as short a time as possible.

His professional work ethic was commented on by the inspectors who had nothing but praise for him and the way he planned ahead and was committed to getting things done. Craig sets the standard for those in his rank / position and his hard work and commitment is obvious to see. 

Ventura – William Gomes, Bar Tender

William received an impressive 17 Guest nominations! Comments included – ‘William is exceptional’,’his smile brightens up anyone’s day’, ‘very helpful and jolly’, ‘makes you feel special’, ‘recognised us from a previous cruise’, ‘served me coffee daily with a smile’, ‘very friendly and welcoming’, ‘always happy, welcoming and has a sunny disposition’.
