In light of Global Recycling Day, we’re highlighting how our teams on board and ashore are supporting Carnival UK on our journey from HESS Compliance to Commitment.

Environmental Compliance Plan (ECP) Reward Coins were introduced last year to recognise colleagues for their commitment to the environment . If you’re awarded one of these coins, it means you’ve gone above and beyond in protecting the environment.

Romel Duron, Waste Disposal Supervisor on board Azura, has done just that.

Romel has been with Carnival UK since 1997, joining Arcadia, Ventura and Azura as each one arrived in the P&O Cruises fleet. Working on board Azura for the past eight years, Romel runs the Recycling Centre as a gold standard operation.

One of the cleanest spaces on Azura, Romel has maintained all environmental standards as they have evolved in this key area, and then exceeded them. His commitment to environmental responsibility represents where we all want to be in each of our areas.

Romel was presented with his coin by Bill Burke, Chief Maritime Officer, Carnival Corporation plc.
