This year, everyone at Carnival Corporation plc has supported Global Recycling Day, on board and ashore – find out how you can get involved in Carnival House here.

In light of Global Recycling Day, we’re showcasing how our fleet are focused on helping us move from HESS Compliance to Commitment. Here’s how colleagues on board Oceana are supporting this journey:

Back in December 2018 we ran an Environmental Culture Survey across Carnival Corporation – find out more here. 75% of Carnival UK colleagues took part in this survey, and for our fleet, Oceana had the highest number of responses at a staggering 100%!

To celebrate this achievement, they designed and manufactured a plaque using two Environmental Compliance Plan Reward Coins, which was presented to the Environmental Officer by Captain Chris Bourne

As part of the Recycled Art competition for Global Recycling Day (find out more here) Louie De Leon from Oceana’s Waste Disposal team, made a mosaic picture from recycled aluminium. Recycled cardboard was used as a base to stick the metal to, and the frame is a recycled restaurant menu holder! The picture was create from an original photo of Oceana in the port of Valletta – it’s a fantastic likeness!

To commemorate their first Arabian Gulf season, Oceana’s talented Ice Carver, Reky Montes, created two impressive camels out of recycled polystyrene. They took pride of place in the Atrium and Guests loved having them in their holiday photos!

Oceana’s Deputy Captain, Kaspar Janson, challenged a HESS process around the flushing of grey water tanks and received an ECP Reward Coin for speaking up.
