It’s safe to say we can all be guilty of letting focus on our wellbeing slip from time to time.
This month we’re giving you a helping hand by sharing wellbeing stories of people across the business to help inspire you and give you a few ideas of how to prioritise your own wellbeing as well as support others.
We caught up with Jade Williams, Customer Contact Centre Team Lead, who’s been taking the time to prioritise wellbeing and support her team to do the same.
“Prioritising my wellbeing is so important to me because it helps me to maintain structure both in my home and work life. It helps me relax and reduces worries and stress.
“For me when things get overwhelming I make sure I talk it out with someone, whether that be my manager or another team leader, just to get a different perspective on things and to help prioritise my time. It always makes me feel better.
“I’m also a great believer in making a task list on your phone – it helps me maintain focus and feel in control of my day.
“Being a manager of a team I am also focused on making sure my team feel supported and are taking care of themselves too. So, I always make sure they know where I am and make a point of saying hello first thing in the morning and checking in and thanking them at the end of the day via IM. They also know that I am available anytime during the day if they need me.
“Not being in the office can mean less chance of social interaction so I make sure that my team have time to catch up with each other as part of our weekly team meeting. I also created a Zoom group chat as a support tool for everyone – we’ve all been asked to move from WhatsApp to Zoom for IT security reasons, but i’d already swapped us so that chat didn’t disturb people who are on leave or not working that day.”
If I had to give one top tip for positive wellbeing it would be … to make time for you at least a few times a week.
I do this by enjoying a bubble bath, getting my head stuck into a book or watching a series, but it can be whatever interests you.
I also always make sure I go for one lengthy walk each weekend for fresh air and a change of scenery.
My recommendations:
- YouTube – There are loads of short Yoga and meditation sessions for beginners which are quick and easy to do. – https://www.youtube.com/
- Joe Wicks 15 minute HIIT workouts – I try to incorporate these where I can either in the morning or evening as they are short sessions to do and I feel so much better after both physically and mentally – https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1
