If you receive a text from your boss, it’s most likely important but instead of trying to respond right away, take a moment to pause and make sure the message is legitimate.

Below are some real-world examples of the different types of Smishing (SMS-phishing) attempts that may pop up on your phone’s home screen…

Keep a lookout and be cautious of messages that contain the same red flags as the examples provided. If you suspect a Smishing attack remember the following: 

DOS	DON’TS
Block the number	Don’t reply – not even “stop”
Report to it	Don’t click on links
Call a trusted number or contact via email to verify its legitimacy	Don’t give information
Trust your instincts  For smishing attempts to your business phone, report using the “Submit a Phish” button in outlook
