With the nights being darker and a distinct chill in the air, it can only mean we’re reaching the end of another year – ‘where’s the time gone?’ we hear you cry! Don’t sweat(er) we’re presenting you with a lot of the info yule need to know this December…
If you've been in Carnival House this week you'll have seen we already have our Christmas trees up, but that doesn't stop you from bringing some festive cheer to the office. All we ask, with the current cleaning protocols in place, is that you keep desks, team cupboards and other surface tops clear. This is so our awesome cleaners can do their job. You can use floor standing decorations but just make sure you don't block walkways and of course, there's always the opportunity to wear a Christmas jumper! For additional guidance, or if you plan on using lights that are yet to be PAT tested (PAT testing must be completed before you use them) please complete the Facilities Fault form on The Insider.
Free festive lunches will be cancelled from Monday 13 December.
The Atrium Café will remain open and offer a festive menu for those still working from the office.
Tuesday 7 December - Friday 14 January
Book time in with your manager to have a conversation about your 2022 performance goals aligned to the business goals and add them to myHRportal by 14 January.
To help you think about your development and goals take a look at the second edition of the shore learning guide here.
Friday 10 December
Although not everyone will see them you can still join in the festive spirit by donning your favourite, fluffy, Fair Isle prints. The more festive the better! And if you want to donate to Save The Children's campaign you can do so here.
16:00, Friday 10 December
We want to get everyone together virtually again this year, along with a couple more special guests, to say thank you for everything you've done in 2021.
Festive gifts will no longer be collectable from Carnival House.
Instead, these will be delivered to home addresses.
09:00, Thursday 16 December
Sture and the Executive Leadership Team will be updating you on the extraordinary year that has been 2021, where we are as a business today, and most importantly our exciting plans and priorities for our continued return to service in 2022.
P&O Cruises are hosting Upon a Star - an external virtual event for our guests, which you're also invited to, to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.
Hosted by Jo Whiley, and featuring our Food Hero Olly Smith making cocktails, a live performance from the Jingle Belles, and appearances from Shaun the Sheep and Wallace and Gromit and other familiar faces, it's set to be a magical evening.
Make sure you accept the invite with a direct link to watch it.
You can also invite your friends and family - simply share this link with them and ask them to register!
Hybrid working empowers us to flex our desk and diary so we're able to work at our best. There's no official early finish on Christmas Eve but we want everyone to have the opportunity to focus on their festive plans. Speak to your line manager and team members to see what's possible and practical for these days.
Wednesday 29 - Friday 31 December
Don't forget... as thanks for everyone’s determination and commitment through a challenging 12 months, this year there are three extra company days to enjoy on 29, 30 and 31 December 2021.
Most of us should be able to take leave on these dates; a real opportunity to spend some well-deserved time resting and recharging. Find out more here.
April - December 2022
As a result of the company days announcement, the holiday trading window has been moved to April – December 2022. If you carry over more than eight days (five standard + three company days), you’re only able to buy holiday (up to five days), you’re not able to sell holiday. More information will be shared during Quarter 1 (December 2021 to February 2022).
During the Christmas period some of us may give or receive gifts from our vendors or business partners. Click here for a reminder of our responsibility to Respect and Protect ourselves and our company.
