Our Mid-year Conversation window is now open from today until 28 May. All Carnival UK shoreside colleagues must have a mid-year conversation with their line manager by this date.
You’ll notice some changes to the mid-year conversation document in myHR portal as we’ve simplified the format to improve your experience and allow you to focus on having quality conversations. Mid-year Conversations are a great opportunity to have an honest and open conversation with your line manager. It also gives you the opportunity to have the time and space to reflect on all the incredible things we’ve achieved so far, and focus forwards to rest of the year ahead.
Preparation is key for having quality, courageous conversations. Here’s how you can get ready…
- Well before the meeting, take time to reflect on your performance and development by answering the five questions in myHR portal. These will help you to review progress made against goals, as well as your performance more generally:

- Looking back over the last quarter, what were your key achievements and successes?
- How have you displayed our Culture Essentials? (Use this Culture Essentials behavioural expectations document.)
- What challenges have you faced and how did you overcome them?
- Review where you are against your performance and development goals, what progress has been made and any obstacles you’re facing?
- Looking forward to the next quarter, what will your key focus be and what support so you need (update/set additional goals for the next quarter if required)?

- Don’t just focus on what you have achieved, think about how you’ve achieved it and the behaviours you’ve displayed. Use our Culture Essentials behavioural expectations to support you – you’ll also learn more about our Culture Essentials in your Culture Essentials in Practice session which will be added to your diary during May and June. - Look ahead and identify your key focus for the next quarter and any support you’ll need from your manager.
- Capture your comments within the mid-year conversation document on myHR portal and submit to your manager before your meeting.
