On 1 October, Britannia hosted their inaugural Women’s Seafarer’s Forum offering women at sea the chance to connect.
Led by Charlie, Security Officer, and Beth, Welfare Officer, the event was designed to bring colleagues together from across departments.
With only 291 women among its 1,400 crew – just 21%, or 1 in 5 – the forum recognised the unique challenges faced by women at sea. Isolation and loneliness can be real concerns, and the initiative aimed to create a safe, supportive space where women could share experiences and build friendships.

The turnout out for the first event was really impressive and crew members were able to exchange stories, share ideas and make new friends. Discussions included mentorship and wellbeing to suggestions for future meet-ups and activities.
With Charlie and Beth at the helm, the initiative is set to play an important role for crew wellbeing, ensuring every woman on board feels seen, heard, and supported.
