Our ships sail the world’s incredible oceans and we’re committed to our responsibility to help preserve and protect our marine environment. One of the ways we do this is by partnering with our destinations and communities through our programme of coastal cleans.
Throughout 2024, colleagues ship and shore have cleaned 215,000 meters squared of coastline in several locations across the world. These include St. Kitts, Norway, Malta, Lisbon, and various locations in our local Southampton community.
Earlier this month, colleagues from Ventura added to this impressive number with our first coastal clean in Tenerife. The clean-up took place on Las Teresitas Beach, Santa Cruz, where the 19-strong team cleared 25kg of rubbish from a 20,000 meters squared area. Well done to everyone involved!
Joey Carrigan, HR Manager on Ventura, said:
“We’re really proud to have participated in P&O Cruises first beach clean in Tenerife. It’s inspiring to work with colleagues who are passionate about sustainability and making a positive impact on the environment.”
Steve Angel, Sustainability Senior Manager, added:
“I’m delighted with the success of our coastal clean-up programme in 2024. The engagement across ship and shore, delivering 13 clean-up events to date with one more planned this month, has been nothing short of fantastic.
This programme has delivered positive impact in the destinations we visit, as well as improvements in the wellbeing and morale of our crew. A massive thank you to all of the volunteers and those involved, as this has really set us up for success to further expand the programme in 2025.”
