Our Carnival House charity partner Oasis Down to Earth Farm (soon to be be Southampton City Farm) and it’s Carnival UK charity committee team have been hard at work since the official launch in July. We wanted to share with you the progress we’re making in fundraising, volunteering, events and employee experience.
We’ve had an overwhelming response from individuals, groups and teams who’ve volunteered to donate their time to help at the farm. We’re thrilled to announce that over 10 teams are already scheduled to support the farm before the end of October.
The impact these groups have had so far has been immeasurable and has enabled the farm to continue supporting their community whilst teams have gone out in force to tend the crops, animal enclosures and prepare for autumn.
Sheldon who recently took the Technology team out to the farm mentioned one of his highlights was “experiencing what Oasis do, meeting the people that run it and volunteer there, and seeing the benefits they bring to adults with learning disabilities in the local community, which was a wonderful experience”. The team also felt it was a great way to re-connect as a group outside of a working environment.
The re-launch of the ‘donate-a-day’ scheme has given people a great sense of wellbeing that’s spent time in the fresh air and made a difference at the farm this month. If you are interested in donating a day or spending time volunteering at the farm please get in touch at Donate@carnivalukgroup.com
What’s coming up next?
In October the farm will be opening it’s doors for Half Term kid’s activities and a Halloween hunt – no need to book, find out more here.
We’ll also be celebrating Halloween at Carnival House on 31 October, so stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
As with all charity partnerships we could not run these without willing volunteers steering it in the right direction.
