Carnival UK is determined to create opportunities for everyone to develop personally and professionally. Committed to an inclusive culture, focusing on gender balance is just one of the ways we’re shaping a positive working environment. That’s why we’re proud to be a founding sponsor of the very first Women in Travel & Tourism Forum (WITTF), held in Iceland on 23 & 24 January 2020.

Developed in partnership with Promote Iceland and PEAK DMC, the inaugural event will be attended by a mixture of private and public sector travel, hospitality and tourism industry trailblazers.

All attendees are passionate about sharing, learning, challenging and furthering their understanding of diversity and inclusion and during the forum will:

  • Learn about global approaches to gender diversity and inclusion
  • Understand the needs/aspirations of next generation female leaders
  • Take away practical tools to implement ‘at home’
  • Network with broader, global industry

Two Carnival UK colleagues are key participants of the forum – Jo Phillips, Chief People Officer, and Hannah Leach, VP Employee Experience and Culture –  with a further seven attending as delegates – Rosy Sims, Susan Farrugia, Ellie Alcock, Ian Strangeway, Kat Jennings, Simon Flower and Katie Peterson.

Hannah, panellist at the forum says;

I’m supporting the forum because we work in one of the world’s most exciting industries and we’ve got such a variety of roles and opportunities available. It’s our job to ensure they are visible and within reach for anyone with passion for travel and a belief that it makes for an enriched, more fulfilling life.”

Speaker and moderator at the event, Jo says;

 I’m genuinely looking forward to being part of an energetic conversation about gender balance in travel; to connect with others, do some collective thinking about how we can break down barriers and learn from each other to take something back to our businesses that will make a difference.

“I’m also so delighted to be in Iceland, the world’s most progressive country when it comes to gender balance. I’m excited to learn more about the drive behind their innovation and learn from their successes. I’m hoping that in connecting with fellow travel industry leaders we can create a community and a movement with a shared passion for progress in this agenda.”
