When it comes to your data in the work place, and the people who look after it, there are some things you really need to know….

The number of people who can see your personal information is very limited.

Your myHR Portal characteristics can only be seen by a handful of people – mainly the People Data & MI team and the Employee Insights Analyst on the 4th floor of Carnival House. We need to see and use that data to help inform the business of the good, the bad and everything in-between that might be affecting our people. Do we have recruitment barriers for certain groups? Are specific groups of people leaving us? Do certain groups seem to be missing out on promotions?

Your Pulse results are looked after by me. As the survey is anonymous, I can’t tell whose response is whose, and I am very careful with who I give access to what – usually aggregated data so I can be sure your response stays anonymous. Josh and the Executive team also get to see the comments you make, but these are provided only with your NPS score and your department.

We care a lot about our people.

We make sure that your data is secure and that we are doing the right things with it. But we don’t actually care about your specific data….. And whilst things like comments on the Pulse survey are read and shared with those that need to know, the fact that you have changed your marital status / changed address / told us your sexual preference? We are unlikely to notice and we certainly won’t look for that deliberately and specifically about you. You are valuable and important, but no more or less than anyone else working here.

As much as we love a spreadsheet, we also love people.

You want to know what we do with your data? Come and talk to us! I have a Guest Chair by my desk specifically for this purpose. Just as our Guests have the right to know what we do with their data, so too do you.

We are the data protectors, just like all of you, working hard to look after the ever growing universe of personal information we have. We understand that with this great trust comes great responsibility. Keep sharing. We’ll do the rest.
