Protecting the places we visit is a responsibility we all share, and recently colleagues from both Arvia and Queen Anne rolled up their sleeves to make a difference in local communities while helping to preserve our marine environment. Supporting cleaner coastlines is just one of the ways we’re bringing our commitment to sustainability and community engagement to life.
In August, 26 Arvia crew members volunteered for a beach clean-up at Plage des Corbières in Marseille. Organised by Steve Angel, Senior Manager, Sustainability, with support from shoreside and onboard colleagues, the team collected an impressive 88kg of rubbish in just 25 minutes. Local residents stopped to thank the crew for helping care for a beach enjoyed by the community, highlighting the positive impact small actions can have when people come together with a shared purpose.
Meanwhile in Lisbon, colleagues from across Queen Anne, representing Spa, Restaurant, Technical, Production and Hotel teams, joined a Blue Flag Beach Clean at Algés Beach. Alongside removing litter, participants learned more about the environmental impact of marine debris, including how long common waste items such as cigarette butts, plastic cups and fishing rope can remain in the environment.
Together, these initiatives demonstrate the difference we can make both onboard and ashore. By giving back to the communities we visit and helping to protect our oceans and coastlines, our colleagues are playing an important role in preserving the destinations our guests and local communities enjoy.
