Your Mental Health First Aiders

Mental Health First Aiders can provide confidential support and signpost you to additional help if and when you need it.

What is a Mental Health First Aider?

A Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) is someone who’s completed an accredited MHFA England course and is equipped with skills to lead confidential mental health colleague conversations, alongside raising awareness, reducing stigma and discrimination, and engaging our people in positive mental wellbeing so we can all have a good day at Carnival UK.

We also have Mental Health Champions (MHC) who have completed a Carnival UK Mental Health Awareness course and are equally committed to raising awareness, reducing stigma and discrimination, and engaging our people in positive mental wellbeing. They’re also able to help colleagues by connecting them to additional mental health support.

Our Mental Health First Aiders and Champions are all colleagues who’ve volunteered their time to take on the role of listening and signposting people to support when they need it.

*If there is a risk to you or others, additional support will be sought.

Your shoreside Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA) and Champions (MHC) are:

If you’re struggling and unsure of who you can talk to please Speak Up and start a conversation in confidence. This doesn’t have to be in person. Send them an email or a message on Teams.

Fleet colleagues, talk to your medical team, HR Manager or any member of your leadership team. They’ll help you with sources of support.

If you need urgent medical attention due to your mental health, please contact your on-board medical team, shoreside GP, dial 999, or contact the Samaritans on 116 123, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Non urgent support can be found here.

If you’re interested in becoming a Mental Health Champion yourself, we would love to hear from you.  Please email Occupational Health with your expression of interest and we’ll be in contact with you to discuss the role in more detail.
