October was a month of compassion, connection and care aboard Arcadia, as crew members came together to mark two important global health events – World Mental Health Day and Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
World Mental Health Day
On 10 October, the ship’s Welfare Officer, alongside the Medical and Spa teams, hosted a thoughtful and restorative event in honour of World Mental Health Day. The day focused on promoting self-care and mental wellbeing among crew. The Spa Team offered relaxing body checks and soothing leg massages, helping everyone unwind and recharge. Meanwhile, the Medical Team shared valuable insights into mental health, offering practical coping strategies and encouraging open conversations around seeking support.A highlight of the day was the creation of a ‘wall of inspiration’, where crew members were invited to write down three personal ways they care for their mental health. This powerful display served as a reminder that mental wellbeing is a daily priority, not just a once-a-year conversation.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Just ten days later, on 20 October, Arcadia turned pink in celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Hosted by HR Manager, Yvonne Smith, a special Women’s Forum brought together women from across departments for an afternoon of learning, laughter and empowerment. The event featured an interactive quiz, exciting prizes, and a heartfelt cake-cutting ceremony symbolising unity and hope. The session highlighted the importance of early detection and awareness, while also celebrating the strength and resilience of women everywhere. It was a moving tribute to those affected by breast cancer and a testament to the supportive spirit of the Arcadia crew.
These events are a shining example of how our ships continue to champion wellbeing at sea—reminding us all to take care of ourselves and each other.
