25 June is Day of the Seafarer; an opportunity to recognise the invaluable contribution of seafarers across the globe and say a huge thank you to our incredible crew who work so hard to create unforgettable holiday happiness for our guests every single day.
Our guests are at the heart of everything we do, but our crew are the heart of our ships, so please take a moment to celebrate each other on this special day. To mark this important day, our Seafarer Welfare Committee (SWC) on each ship is organising a range of activities for crew to enjoy, and to accompany this we’ve also created a special video which will be played on board…
Today, and every day, thank you to all our amazing crew! And special thanks to Staff Captains Davide Rocca and Simon Cooper, and the crew on Arcadia, Iona, and Queen Mary 2, for helping us make the video. And thank you to everyone who entered our competition on board – we’ll be announcing the winners early next week, so watch this space!
Respect and protect each other
Whilst Day of the Seafarer is a time for celebration, it also serves a reminder of the challenges that seafarers face globally. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) theme for Day of the Seafarer this year is ‘My Harassment-Free Ship.’ IMO industry studies show that that over 50% of female seafarers and a significant number of male seafarers have experienced harassment at sea.
Carnival UK has zero tolerance for any kind of discrimination, bullying, or harassment. Our ships are not only a place of work, but also a home away from home, so it’s essential we treat each other with respect and Speak Up if something isn’t right.
Remember, we also have a range of learning tools and activities for you to take part in to help everyone feel respected and included – find out more here.
