Acclaimed West End show Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of) is touring a new shore-based production following its successful debut aboard Queen Anne, with Cunard as the headline sponsor of this autumn’s 35-date regional run.
The award-winning romcom premiered at Newcastle Theatre Royal on 19 September, after receiving rave reviews for its run in the early weeks of Queen Anne’s maiden season – the first time the production has ever been performed at sea!
Katie McAlister, President of Cunard, said:
It’s always a pleasure coming home to the North East but on this occasion it’s even more special because Cunard is premiering the fantastic Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of) in Newcastle. The show has already captivated audiences aboard our new ship Queen Anne and we look forward to sharing this wonderful theatrical experience with the city of Newcastle, which already boasts a hugely vibrant entertainment scene. As sponsor of this award-winning show’s UK tour, Cunard is extremely proud to support such an incredible and fun-filled production ahead of its arrival in the West End. I hope this afternoon’s matinee sparked some imaginations and even inspired a lifelong love of theatre, and that tonight people get a taste for the truly stand-out experiences that Cunard offers.
More than 200 school children from schools across the region were invited to a dress rehearsal matinee performance – to share the magic of live theatre with local students who may have been experiencing the theatre for the first time.

Award-winning producer David Pugh said:
It is an immense privilege to be producing with Cunard this multi-award-winning show and I am so excited to bring one of my favourite West End productions back to Newcastle. Guests on board Queen Anne have absolutely loved the show, which is deeply affectionate towards the iconic Jane Austen original, with a few new elements thrown in to create a contemporary and lively show. The production is so much fun and has so much heart – and karaoke – so I have no doubt that the people of Newcastle will have a fantastic evening with us.
