Following our employee-led network REACH shining a light on Ramadan last month, the team onboard Britannia have shared how they supported colleagues during the holy month.
Rishi Chadha, HR Manager on Britannia, said…
“Fasting and prayer are the cornerstones of Ramadan, but it also carries an inclusive spirit that emphasises the values of community, charity and compassion. With this in mind, the Britannia leadership team showed respect and care to support our Muslim colleagues during Ramadan, in turn promoting an inclusive workplace, which aligns with the true essence of the holy month.
Being on refit, we had the opportunity to organise for colleagues to attend prayer service at the local Mosque in Rotterdam. This was very much appreciated by those who wished to attend. We also had the opportunity to bring cultures together when Muslim colleagues invited the onboard Senior Management Team (SMT) to join them for Iftar (the breaking of the fast meal) at sunset. It was a great evening of harmony and togetherness where we all celebrated the essence of this sacred month together.
Supporting our Muslim colleagues during Ramadan is a great opportunity to promote an inclusive workplace and demonstrates our commitment to diversity and inclusivity. Our colleagues were very appreciative of all the efforts and support provided to them to have a successful Ramadan and make Eid al-Fitr a memorable one.”
