The countdown has begun! As Ventura prepares to return to service and once again create unforgettable holiday happiness for our guests, we’ve been catching up with a few of our colleagues on board to hear their stories.

Say hello to Daisy Dafters, Headliners Theatre Company Cast Manager

“I completed my first contract for the company in 2018 as a dancer, which I was lucky enough to confirm after attending an open audition during my third year in professional dance and musical theatre training at Bird College, London. I then returned in 2019 to join Cast 16 on board Ventura, once again as a Dancer.

“Unfortunately due to COVID this contract was cut short and in March 2020 I returned back home to Exeter in Devon. I spent just over a year at home due to the pandemic and during this time I successfully completed my PGCE and became a qualified teacher specialising in secondary education. I am extremely grateful to finally be returning to cruise ships with my new role and responsibilities and fundamentally to be able to do what I have trained for and love, which is to be able to bring joy to people through live performance.”

Any top tips for the new ways of working and protocols on board?

“Wash your hands as soon as you get back into your cabin no matter how recently you have washed them. It takes 20 seconds and makes a huge difference to the spread of viruses.”

How do you relax and look after your wellbeing after a busy day?

“I miss my friends and family very much when I am away at sea so will try my best to facetime or voice-note loved ones to check in on their day. I also developed a new love for running during lockdown and really enjoy listening to a podcast and using the running machine for a 5k de-stress. I have always been into fitness and am also qualified fitness instructor which allows me to teach group exercise classes when I’m living on land. My favourite programme which I will do for myself or for my cast is Body Balance by Les Mills which is a combination of Pilates, Yoga and Tai Chi – it really supports individual wellbeing.”

And last but not least, the big question… what are you most excited about returning to service?

“I am so excited to get to perform in front of an live audience once again as it has been so long. I am also thrilled to be able to share the stage with the most amazing cast of talented and passionate human beings.”

Thanks Daisy for sharing your story! We wish you and all our colleagues on board Ventura a fantastic season of creating unforgettable holiday happiness for our guests.
