Oceana was part of the P&O Cruises fleet for 18 illustrious years, and during that time many of us had the opportunity to make memories aboard her, either with work or on holiday with family and friends.

To celebrate the joy she brought to everyone who sailed on her, we asked you to share your favourite memories with us…

“I have been working for P&O Cruises for four contracts and three of them have been on this beautiful ship. So many ups and downs, but mostly happy times and loveable memories. She was a magnificent ship and I will truly miss her. Thankyou so much P&O Cruises for that wonderful ship. Will miss Oceana.”

Emmanuel Chikoore, Demi-Chef De Partie

“Oceana was my favourite ship, her Atrium was just breathtakingly beautiful. I have been lucky enough to cruise on her twice and had the best time, especially sailing into Kotor and seeing the amazing views from the deck. She will certainly be missed, but I will cherish the memories she gave me.”

Sophie Warner, Partnership Helpdesk Coordinator, Carnival UK

“Oceana was my first cruise ship at work. I found it challenging yet I am delightful with my work. I had a lot of good memories and met wonderful people. I learned a lot of marvelous things and I will definitely miss Oceana.  ❤️❤️❤️”

Ivie Zamora Wenceslao, Cabin Stewardess

“My family and I were privileged to be on one of the last few sailing’s on the beautiful Oceana this year – here’s all three kids on the Captain’s chair on a bridge tour and my daughter, Rachel, discovering new dancing skills in the Atrium with the lovely Ron and Pat.” Becky Lester, Senior Management Accountant, Capital Planning.

“When I was part of the CUK Maritime Team I worked on board Oceana in 2017 when she was in Hamburg for her refit. I also travelled out to Malta where she was based for her Mediterranean fly-cruise seasons. Being part of the refit and operational teams will always be memorable moments in my career.”

Alexander Francis, PMO Senior Analyst, Carnival Corporate Shipbuilding

“I worked on Oceana from 2005 to 2010. One of the most friendly ships in the fleet.”

Yogesh Nair, Head Waiter

“There were at least 15 of us from the Finance Department who got a last minute concession on Oceana’s Christmas Cruise to Bruges in December 2018. We had an additional Christmas Party onboard; great memories!”

Rachael Laming, Executive Assistant to James Chedgey, Chief Financial Officer.

“I started my cruise ship career with the beautiful ship Oceana and spend my 1st and 2nd contract with her in 2012 and 2013. I had fantastic and memorable cruises in the Mediterranean, Malta and Fjords. She has given her best and lots and lots of memorable cruises for our Guests. I really miss you Oceana. You have left with us with all the memories.”

Subhasish Gon, FRWT.

“I’ll really miss Oceana as I have many holiday memories and also I worked on board for a 1 month secondment. Oceana was my first cruise holiday in 2006 and the first ship that I took my husband (then boyfriend) on in 2011- he has been hooked on cruising ever since! We also celebrated our honeymoon on board  in 2015.”

Lauren Featherstone, Services Coordinator, Carnival UK.

“Oceana is the friendliest and happiest ship I’ve ever known! She was my first ship and first time I’d ever worked on a cruise ship. Six out of eight of my contracts I’ve spend on this beautiful ship; so many memories. Farewell my dear Oceana. You will be missed but never be forgotten.”

Victor Valencia Buena, Galley Commis.

“Oceana was my first ship. I met truly lifelong best friends and had some of the happiest times of my life on her. Some memories for me are Venice arrivals, Monaco Grand Prix, Macmillan Cancer fundraising with the hotel team, Kotor hiking and Oceana sailing in to Livorno to pick me up.”

Dr Kathryn Ramsdale, Director, Health Services

“I spent two of my contracts on board Oceana. One of my most fun memories is when i was invited to Gala Night with officers and Guests. It was an amazing journey to be part of the Oceana. Thank you.”

Jordan Cruz Fernandez, Technical Work Squad Supervisor

“It’s time to say goodbye to P&O Oceana. She’s been my floating home, life and work for the last three incredible years! I am so grateful for all the wonderful memories and friendships from each contract at sea and excited for when we can go back to work.”

Michaela Cater, Loyalty and Cruise Sales Manager, P&O Cruises

“Oceana was my first ship when I joined P&O Cruises. I not only enhanced my IT skills but also developed my knowledge in a ship environment. Memories were really unforgettable; the crew, the team, the management and the itineraries – I had the chance to visit places like Greece, Dubai and Acapulco. This photo was taken seven years ago in the engine deck with all the technical team.”

Mervyn Celarbo, IT Officer – Iona

“I’ve worked with P&O Cruises for 21 glorious years as Cabin Steward; I love what I do. I have fond memories of Oceana crossing the Panama Canal.”

Avadhut Dhanu, Cabin Steward

“To mark Oceana leaving the Southampton terminal for the last time, I made cupcakes for everyone at ABP Ports to enjoy while they watched the sailaway.”
