The world we’re living in right now is far from normal and the familiar that we took for granted just a few short months ago is a bit of a distant memory.

Situations like this often bring out the best in people and we hear daily through social media, friendship groups and mainstream media how so many people are going above and beyond to support people, often complete strangers during this time of crisis.

I recently received such a heart-warming email from Charlotte Green, Senior Manager, PMO, to tell me about something she has been doing during lockdown to bring smiles to the faces of the residents in a nursing home close to where she lives.

Here’s what she told me:

“I wanted to do something that might bring a smile in these difficult times. I have been practicing my drawing and colouring as a way to relax in the evening, so I thought I could maybe put that to some use.

Every day I walk past a nursing home and I always wonder how the residents and their carers are getting on during lockdown and in particular the restrictions regarding no visitors.

So I created 60 cards, some I coloured in and some I left black and white so that the recipients could colour them or even add to them.

I then sent them to the nursing home for the residents and their carers.”

I think the response that Charlotte received from the nursing home manager says it all:

“Thank you so much for this. It’s amazing, just like you. I can’t say how much it means to us.”

Thank you for sharing this lovely story Charlotte, you certainly have brightened up lots of people’s days with what you’ve done.

Do you have a story to share?
