On 14 May not only did we mark 365 days to go until Iona, the UK’s largest and P&O Cruises newest cruise ship, joins the fleet we also launched Summer of Happiness for all P&O Cruises seafarers.

Summer of Happiness is now live across the P&O Cruises fleet and ashore. It will be launched to Cunard’s fleet too with their first event taking place in June (more to be revealed in the coming weeks!)

What’s Summer of Happiness about?

This year’s Summer of Happiness ‘My Best me’ focuses on encouraging and supporting each and every one of us to be the best version of ourselves. And we want to have a bit of fun along the way, after all the best version of ourselves is usually the happiest version of ourselves!

Iona 365 events took place in sync across eight locations around the world on 14 May including Carnival House. We had contortionists, singers, dancers, special Iona 365 menus, Ted Talks from our Iona experts and even Simon Webbe from boy band Blue, Francis Benali, ex Southampton footballer and Jono Holmes, Capital FM radio DJ made a special appearance.

What’s more, with the help of all our colleagues at Carnival House, our P&O Cruises ship’s company, and Guests we exceeded our Teenage Cancer Trust Cyclothon Challenge targets! Aiming to cycle 1,196 miles in 5 hours from Southampton to Iona, Scotland and back to Southampton we exceeded our target by 104 miles! And we took our fundraising target even further, raising more than £4,000 – £2,500 over and above our original target of £1,500.

Congratulations to everyone who took part onboard and ashore and a special thank you to our Iona SMT members on leave for making the special trip to join us at Carnival House to celebrate as well.

Who are Teenage Cancer Trust?

P&O Cruises started the relationship with Teenage Cancer Trust on board the P&O Cruises fleet in 2015.  Around seven young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. They need expert treatment and support from the moment they hear the word ‘cancer.’ TCT are the only charity dedicated to making this happen. P&O Cruises has raised over £300K in fundraising since the partnership began through on board activities including fetes, raffles and ship visits and most recently through ‘Trek the Deck’, a fundraising walk around the decks.
