Refer a friend offer for fleet

The ‘refer a friend’ incentive has gone back to its original offer of $200 / £150 for all Officer and Medical roles, with immediate effect.

Here’s how the process works:

  1. Ask your ship’s management team for a copy of the new policy (or if you have access to GHESS you can find it on there) to make sure you and your friend/family member are eligible – you’ll need an active crew code to be able to use this scheme.
  2. Speak to your friend / referral about the relevant position
  3. Ask them to apply for the specific role via one of Carnival UK’s websites or through a Global Talent Partner:

  4. When completing their application form, your friend/family should select “Refer a Friend”. When asked “How did you hear about us?” they should add your name and your employment number into the text box.

Navigate to current jobs on myHR Portal and click on the role you would like to refer someone to, then click ‘actions’ and you’ll seen an option to ‘refer a candidate’, input their details and it will send them a link to apply. You’ll be also be able to track the progress of your referral.

How much will I get paid?
You will receive an additional £150 in your gross remuneration

When will I hear about my referral?
Unfortunately we will not be able to give updates. Please ensure you email people support after the referral has worked within the business for 12 weeks.

When will I get paid?
You should receive a payment within 2 months of the person completing 12 weeks service, provided you have alerted people support.

How will I be paid?
You will be paid in the usual way you receive your pay today.

Which roles does this apply to?
The scheme applies to all shore side roles, and for officer roles in Fleet.

Please read the advert before referring to make sure that your referral meets the criteria for the role.

Is there a maximum number of people I can refer?
No there is no maximum but please ensure they follow the correct procedure when applying or we will not be able to pay you.

What if I leave the company, will I still get my referral payment?
No. You must be a current employee at the time of the referral starting as a new employee.

Terms and Conditions

  • New starters must be in place for 12 weeks before the referral fee is payable.
  • Employees must gain the permission of the candidate prior to making the referral.
  • Candidates must be referred via one of our careers websites. Application forms provide the applicant the opportunity to say where they heard about the role, and who referred them. This should be filled in to make a valid referral.
  • For the purposes of this scheme, employees can only introduce candidates who have been known to them for a minimum of 6 months and they have given considered thought to their suitability for working at CUK.
  • Candidates must not be sourced through a third party.
  • Employees must not advertise vacancies on behalf of the business on job boards
  • Promotion of vacancies via employees social media networks shall be permitted
  • The business reserves the right to withdraw, vary or amend the scheme at any time
  • Only applicable to new offers of employment since launch of new scheme on the 31 July 2018.
  • Members of staff involved in the recruitment process for the related role are exempt.
  • Only permanent and fixed term contract employees of CUK are eligible, and must still be in employment at the time the referred friend commences employment in order to benefit
  • The business decision is final and not subject to adjudication.
  • Referrals are valid for 6 months from time of referral.
  • Referrals to be made by current employees only working for the company at time of payment.
