Packing for your tour of duty/assignment can be a daunting task, but we’ve compiled a list to help you prepare. Remember, your comfort and compliance are key to a successful journey.
Below, you’ll find essential information and a checklist to ensure you have everything you need. Please note that all compliance documentation must be carried in your hand luggage, not hold luggage.
Essential Compliance Documents
Packing these documents will ensure a smooth onboarding process and help you navigate compliance requirements effortlessly. Please note you must ensure that you bring all original copies of your documentation unless otherwise stated.
- Passport
- Seafarers Medical Fitness Certificate
- Visas
- Vaccinations
- Seafarers Identity Card (Bermudan and/or National)
- Seamans Discharge Book
- Criminal Record Background Check (if applicable for your role position)
- Joining Instructions

Clothing
When preparing for your journey as a seafarer, it’s essential to pack the right clothing. Make sure to include the following:
- Uniform: Pack enough uniforms for the duration of your assignment.
- Casual Wear: Comfortable clothing for off-duty hours.
- Formal Wear: For official events or gatherings (if applicable for your role position)
- Weather-Appropriate Gear: Depending on your destination, pack for hot, cold, or rainy weather.
Personal Items
It’s important to pack essential personal items to ensure your comfort and well-being. Make sure to include the following:
- Toiletries: Basic hygiene products like toothpaste, shampoo & soap, aswell as personal care products
- Medications: Any prescription medications you need for the duration of your contract plus 30 days, along with a copy of the prescription.
- Electronics: Phone, charger, and any other necessary gadgets.
- Books or Entertainment: For leisure time.
