We’re committed to creating an inclusive culture where difference is respected and valued, and where our people can be themselves and thrive. One of the ways we do this is through our Women’s Seafarers Group (WSG).

The WSG provides a community forum for women and non-binary seafarers to share experiences, insights, and aspirations. It plans to address the specific challenges and opportunities they face, through feedback sessions and networking activities.

On 12 September, the team on Queen Anne proudly launched their WSG with a special event to mark the occasion. Held in the Britannia restaurant with tea and cake for all the enjoy, the event brought colleagues together to connect, celebrate, reflect and look forward to the future.

Crew Welfare Officer Lance Joubert said:

“We’re extremely proud to have launched the WSG on Queen Anne. 267 our 1,209 crew are women – a notable 22% representation. Among these are 39 ranking officers – shining examples of leadership and expertise on board. This diversity is a testament to the evolving landscape of maritime professions, where talent and dedication know no gender boundaries.

The introduction of the WSG signals a commitment not only to increasing these numbers, but to ensuring that every woman and non-binary crew member feels valued, supported, and given every opportunity to thrive. Every attendee was welcomed as a vital part of this initiative – a space where their voices, experiences, and ambitions are recognised and uplifted.”

The WSG on Queen Anne plans to host a variety of activities to enrich both personal and professional lives. This includes skill-building sessions, mentorship pairings with seasoned officers, cultural celebrations, and recreational outings. These events are designed not only to build confidence but also to nurture friendships.

Supported by Queen Anne’s Senior Management Team (SMT) and Operations Team, their commitment is visible not only in words but in their active participation and endorsement. By pledging their support, our management teams ensure the longevity of the WSG and it being an integral part of the ship’s culture going forward.
