Our Maritime Asset Strategy Transformation (MAST) team is busier than ever, and we want to bring you along for the ride! As a reminder, MAST is our centralized maintenance, inventory and procurement system (AMOS) that uses fleetwide operational data across the full Carnival Corporate Fleet of 90+ ships to improve equipment maintenance, optimize spare part inventories and leverage buying power across the company’s cruise lines and ships.
We are deep in the process of deploying the MAST program fleetwide, which will align all legacy data from individual ship databases onto the same platform to help our teams best work together. For example, P&O Cruises’ Iona had a cabin they couldn’t use as the automatic balcony door was broken and they were waiting on a belt to fix it, which is not in stock. Using MAST, the team could see Costa Smeralda had these belts in stock, so the ships were able to coordinate a delivery of the belt to fix the door significantly sooner than if they had to wait on the belt from the supplier!
By the end of March 2025, we are up to 30 ships on MAST, with plans to have 53 ships live on MAST by mid-year! Between deployments, the team continues to host workshops around the world to review and compare previous deployments to make the process better each time.
What’s next?
- First Fleetwide Deployment Complete: Last year, we deployed MAST one ship at a time. Now, we have learned so much and expanded the teams by so many, we just completed our first-ever Fleet Deployment, where we successfully launched the MAST platform on the final seven PCL ships all at one time. This is an incredible feat that is only possible due to the hard work and dedication of our trainers!
- New MAST Trainers Joining the Team: As a result of the workshop back in January, we recognized the need for new MAST trainers to meet the scale of our upcoming deployment schedule. We are currently recruiting for more trainers, especially as we track toward more large-scale deployments following the PCL Fleet Deployment. This will ensure that no matter how small or big the ask, we have the answer!
- Governance: An important step for the governance function has recently been completed! A dedicated area is now available within GHESS to hold all MAST governance documents, which ensures easier access to documentation for all stakeholders, ship and shore. Previously, all MAST Governance documents were saved in a SharePoint folder, so not everyone had access, and it was difficult to remember where to find it for occasional use. Stay tuned for more updates as we finalize and publish more materials to improve awareness and transparency of our data and business processes!
This year is incredibly exciting for the MAST team, as the more ships that are onboarded to MAST, the bigger the impact of the platform will be.

I believe this is a great move for us. It will make maintenance more efficient and effective and at the same time not wasting time and money on parts that are not needed
