The official start of construction of Carnival Festivale was celebrated on Tuesday 8 April at Meyer Werft shipyard, Papenburg, with the first steel cut taking place.
In a traditional ceremony, hosted by Meyer, and attended by representatives from Corporate Shipbuilding, Carnival Cruise Line and RINA the official beginning of the shipbuilding journey was marked.Speaking during the ceremony, Simon Pattison, Project Manager, said:
“Carnival Festivale was the first ship we signed after the COVID pandemic that created so many challenges for us all – so this ship marks an important return to newbuilding for Carnival and another opportunity for our teams to work together, building on the strong collaboration we achieved during construction and delivery of Carnival Jubilee in 2023.
But on top of that, this ship is not simply the 10th in a series. Technically, she will be a big step forwards; with the latest generation dual fuel engines for clean burning of LNG, industry leading waste management system and a raft of upgrades to improve energy efficiency. And for the guests – all of the favourites, some new concepts, plus an incredible new water park and family zone.”
