We love hearing from our crew members about what they’ve all been up to! Queen Mary 2 crew have been busy on their travels recently and Charles Stewart, HR Manager has been in touch to share some magical memories of a visit to the Realm of the Arctic Circle and the ancient Land of the Vikings!
Crossing into the realm of the Arctic Circle…
During October Queen Mary 2 sailed from New England in the US and Quebec in Canada, squeezing in a couple of Transatlantic Crossings, and then latterly in November, entering into the realm of the Arctic Circle by crossing the line at 66⁰ 33’ 36” North, chasing after the elusive Northern Lights!
A few of the team were lucky enough to get a short, fleeting glimpse of the magical lights as the ship left TromsØ!
It is quite a special moment for a ship to cross into the Arctic Circle. To mark the occasion HR Manager, Charles Stewart, arranged for almost 300 crew members visiting the Realm of the Arctic Circle for the first time, to receive a special commemorative certificate as a souvenir of their visit to the Frozen North!
Walking with a Viking Queen…
For our last stop on our Norwegian voyage, Queen Mary 2 arrived in Stavanger. A few of the crew were honoured to Walk with a Viking Queen – Line Murphy, who is Cruise Manager, Stavanger Region for the Edge of Norway Tourist Office,
Line, dressed as a Viking Queen, hosted a guided walking tour of the city for crew to see the sights and learn about the history of Stavanger – all topped off with a visit to the Chilli Chocolate Shop for a delicious and warming taste of boutique chocolate! Thank You, Line!
