On Tuesday  25 June we celebrated Day of the Seafarer, a chance to recognise the invaluable contribution of seafarers across the globe and say a huge thank you to our incredible crew who work on board our ships, creating unforgettable holiday happiness every day.

Here’s how we celebrated onboard …

The team on board Britannia paired safety and fun by giving their events a superhero theme and cleverly intertwining the core messages of safety at sea and our Golden rules of Health, Environment, Safety and Security.

As well as a superhero party the team also hosted a delectable feast with Britannia’s culinary teams pulling out all the stops.

The team on Arvia hosted a variety of activities focused on celebrating seafarers, from an egg hunt to free ice cream and a nautical themed party. Congratulations to the three crew members who won best dressed!

The team on Aurora hosted a Safety Olympics with eight teams of six crew taking part in the activities. Although it was a very close competition, huge congratulations to Team Zulu who won Gold and Team Divergent who won Silver. Here’s how the games unfolded …

The games started with a Scavenger Hunt around the ship before the next round got the teams taking part in a safety clothes relay, where all team members were timed on how fast they could get different items of safety clothing on correctly. For round three teams were tested on their mental agility with a safety themed memory game, spotting hazards in different working environments and a buzzer round where they had to correctly identify the safety process such as SHARK and FIRE.  Physical ability was next, testing the teams on their ability to do physical tasks in a safe manner.  The final round was a safety knowledge quiz.  Teams had to identify the correct safety signs from just a small snapshot, and answer questions about safety equipment and processes. Well done team Aurora!

And congratulations to our competition winners too!

In-keeping with this years Day of the Seafarer ‘safety’ theme, we invited crew to share videos of themselves and their colleagues performing safety related activities in their role. Congratulations to Carl Reyes (Azura), Sherwin John Mandia (Arvia), Marlon Umali (Queen Mary 2), Mica Castillote (Arvia), Saish Karpe (Arvia), Yash Kori (Iona), Sofia Unas (Arvia) who all took part and have won £100 onboard credit each!

Well done to everyone who took part in this years activities!
